What you will do

Lead teams of Business and IT Project Managers responsible for the successful design, build, implementation and business value realization of technology initiatives supporting the manufacturing, quality and supply chain business functions.

Manage new technology initiatives in lean manufacturing replenishment, supply chain/inventory visibility, manufacturing event monitoring and alerts, decision support, management reporting, demand and production scheduling analysis, forecasting, buffer and safety stock management, transportation management, and EDI/messaging.

Plan, direct and coordinate activities related to technology projects on an enterprise level to support Business partner objectives. This includes responsibility to develop the value proposition, funding proposal, project organization, deployment planning, and business adoption and value realization.

Monitor all major IT/Business partner project activities ensuring JCI program/project management and PMO process disciplines. Provide overall direction and leadership to the project execution to ensure successful delivery as measured by timeliness, budget performance, quality and customer satisfaction. Ensure use of IT tools and methodologies including status reporting, portfolio management (using Daptiv program management software), and deliverable quality and completion. Facilitate the successful transition of new projects into the application services organization for continued support and enhancement. Accountability for a department budget of capital and operating expense to support project execution.

Provide leadership and direct supervision for a diverse team of project managers and business analysts. Develop competencies within the team for project management discipline, business acumen, relevant and emerging technologies, and personal growth and development consistent with the Johnson Controls values.

How you will do it

Project Design

Consult with management and review project proposals with teams to determine goals, timing, funding, resources, architecture and technology partner selection. Assist project managers in development of detailed project plans, goals and success metrics, major milestones, staffing, scheduling, risks, related system dependencies, contingency plans, allocation of available resources, communication plans, and identification of cultural changes if required. Formulate and define technical scope and objectives with architecture and infrastructure team.

Solution Design and Business Process Design

Ensure the currency, quality, scalability and integrity of information. Provide consistency in content, interoperability and look and feel across the enterprise to achieve JCI's goal for implementing standard process and best practice across the company. Ensure that Business processes are understood and documented from "as is" and "to be" to include process metrics wherever applicable.

Project Success Metrics

Ensures project milestones are understood and documented with clear metrics identified for process improvement and delivery of business value. This position is accountable for project metrics for on-time completion, budget performance, quality and customer satisfaction.

Program Governance and Oversight

Responsible for assurance of cross-project and multi-discipline collaboration and integration and ensures project teams and programs are structured for success and have appropriate level management governance and involvement.

Provide oversight of ongoing tracking of project execution to the plan including tracking of capital and expense actual costs. This includes formal project status meetings with stakeholders at arranged intervals.

Technology Partner Management

Lead in selection and ongoing management of technology partner relationships including contract development, attainment of deliverables and relationship and issue management.

What we look for

  • Proven program/project management experience in implementation of complex, integrated, global business applications in discrete/repetitive manufacturing operations, quality and/or supply chain management. Strong preference for experience in automotive manufacturing, particularly JIT sequencing.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and operations

  • Experience delivering projects in a global environment

  • Experience with the following business applications: QAD MfgPro, Factory Logic, Vastera, manufacturing execution systems (i.e. Iconics, Cimplicity, Rockwell, et al).

  • Strong experience and understanding of IT methodologies (eg. SDLC)

  • Familiarity with the following technologies: J2EE, Websphere, Oracle RDBMS, SQL, Progress

  • Highly proficient in communicating and coordinating information technology solutions that aggressively supports business objectives.

  • Program/project management credentials, preferably PMI certified

  • Strong executive presentation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead a diverse team of IT project managers and business analysts

  • Decisive leadership with ability to drive multi-functional business teams in resolving conflict, achieving consensus and reaching timely agreement on common best practices and solutions

  • Minimum undergraduate degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management field. MBA desired.
